Capital Boot Sales is the largest car boot sale operator in the South of England, with six established locations across Hertfordshire, Essex, London and Gloucestershire. Our locations include the long established sales at Great Amwell and Cuffley, two Essex County Council Park and Ride sites, Edmonton at the Lee Valley Leisure Complex and Gloucester’s purpose built market venue.

Our team brings almost two decades of market experience. We work with private landowners, councils and public bodies to generate income from suitable fields and hardstanding sites, taking responsibility for running the events from promotion through to clearing up.

How we run every site

Everything is handled by our team

We run the whole operation at every site, including marketing, staffing, access, traffic management, security, facilities, trader conduct, waste, cleaning, insurance and compliance. We carry £10 million public liability and £10 million employers’ liability insurance.

We use staggered entry times and tiered pricing to help spread arrivals across the morning. Our marshals manage traffic on site, with access, parking and opening times planned around each location and its neighbouring properties. A site manager is on site from opening to closing, overseeing the event and dealing with any concerns. The landowner has a direct line to us.

Sellers work to clear rules and a banned items list. Our team handles waste and clearance after each sale, leaving the site as we found it and ready for its normal use.

Chosen by councils and public bodies

Following a lengthy competitive tender process, Gloucester City Council awarded us a 15 year lease to operate its purpose built Hempsted Meadow Car Boot and Market site.

At Sandon and Colchester, we run Sunday and bank holiday Monday car boot sales under agreements with Essex County Council. These events generate income from existing hardstanding while the sites retain their Park and Ride function.

At Edmonton, we operate at Lee Valley Leisure Complex through our established relationship with Lee Valley Regional Park Authority.

Our events give local residents, small businesses and charities an affordable place to trade while encouraging reuse.
